Odd-mass Au isotopes herald a system that manifests the phenomenon of low-energy nearly-degenerate shape coexistence. Strongly-deformed states appear due to presence of intruder configurations, i.e., the states that intrude across closed shell Z = 82, because their excitation energies are dictated dominantly by massive correlations. In the seminar, systematic studies of odd-Au isotopes will be presented. These experiments include in-beam studies performed at JYFL and at iThemba Labs and beta decay studies at ISOLDE. Focus will be given to the IS521 experiment performed in August 2014. Experiment studied beta decays of 181-189Hg isotopes. In this run, the newly designed tape transportation system TATRA, developed at the Institute of Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, was employed for the first time. System is using metallic glass in the mode similar to past 8-track tapes to transport the activity from irradiation point to the measurement station. This novel material gives some excellent properties to the system. Gamma rays were detected with Broad Energy Germanium (BEGe) detector and with conventional coaxial p-type detectors. Excellent resolution and nearly linear background of the BEGe detector allowed detailed analysis including Rydberg-Ritz combination principle as a dominant procedure for construction of low-energy part of the level schemes.
