Esemény leírása

The recently discovered Higgs boson is responsible for the masses of elementary particles. The mass of the visible universe is dominated, however, by protons and neutrons which are not elementary. The origin of their mass is less trivial, the Higgs is responsible for a tiny fraction only. All three interactions of the Standard Model of particle physics contribute to these masses. These contributions, their orders of magnitude will be discussed and a recent result on the theoretical determination of the neutron-proton mass difference will be presented.
